LA-based Montana native, Willow Stephens is making music to get you out of your funk and back in your groove. Her sophomore album Future Classic (2024) offers a fresh and unique blend of introspective pop, soul, R&B and a whole lot of heart. Stephens is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, band leader, songwriter and artist. Her undercover classical and jazz chops are wrapped in a shiny, pop sensibility with lyrics that cut straight to the heart.
Willow’s songs have been featured on Hulu, Nickelodeon, Max and Netflix. Stephens has performed all over the western US, headlined the Troubadour and shared stages with acts such as KT Tunstall, Allen Stone, Macklemore and Andy Mineo.
After getting her start writing hooks for hip-hop artists, she made the move to LA in 2015 and signed a recording contract with Mineo’s label @minerleague.co. Her debut EP was produced by the Philadelphia based team behind Splice’s SoulSurplus. With influences from doo-wop to hip-hop the EP is both nostalgic and future-facing all in one stroke.
In 2018 Stephens returned to her indie roots and began work on her first full length album. The lead single "Gold" premiered on BuzzBands LA and was dubbed sultry casino pop. Her debut LP “All That Glitters” is the product of a goal to write 100 songs in a year. She celebrated its release with a west coast tour and a near sold out show at Doug Westin’s Troubadour in January 2020.
Her emotional, profound songwriting shines through on her pandemic project, A GOOD CRY. This thematic EP traverses the themes of grief and loss with lyrical excellence and grace. The first track “Good Man” was a finalist in American Songwriter Magazine’s 2020 songwriting contest.
Willow spent 2022 performing as the principal pianist for Netflix’s, Bridgerton Experience. The first single from her forthcoming album “Future Classic” (coming fall 2023) SHINE was featured on Hulu’s ‘Everything’s Trash’.
When she is not performing around LA with her band, you can find Willow live streaming music on Twitch to her international community of fans several times a week.
